Information
EQOS Kommunikation performed the measurements and updated electromagnetic exposure areas at 33 transmission masts of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). In addition, the access and rescue plans attached to each mast were updated. In consultation with WDR, a new “traffic light system” was introduced to make the values of the recorded electromagnetic radiation easily visible and understandable and to provide the corresponding instructions for action. The work for WDR is carried out in accordance with the DGUV 15 regulation of German Accident Insurance, which regulates occupational safety in areas with electric, magnetic, or electromagnetic fields.
In the first step, EQOS Kommunikation remeasured the exposure areas on site, primarily using an E-field probe, which enables the point-by-point measurement of electromagnetic fields. An H-field probe was also used in the immediate vicinity of the antenna. The recorded data were evaluated and processed in the office. After the corresponding plans had been drawn up, the information and warning signs were installed on the masts in question. This also included marking the transitions between the exposure areas on the access routes to the mast.
Thanks to the excellent training of the measurement technicians with climbing courses and their G41 qualification as well as the highly qualified planning department, EQOS Kommunikation was able to offer all necessary project work from a single source. As much as possible, the work was performed while maintaining transmission operations, and the shutdown times required for measurements were kept to a minimum.
